Referring to a tract of land now in the northwestern part of West Virginia and not to the present state of Indiana
In a letter to Benjamin Franklin, August 7, 1775, Edward Bancroft states that Samuel Wharton and he wrote this pamphlet. See. Alvord, C.W. The Mississippi Valley in British politics, volume 2, page 317
"At a conference held with the Six Nations at Johnson-Hall, May 2d, 1765. Present, Sir William Johnson, baronet, the king's superintendent of Indian affairs ... Sir William addressed the Six Nations as follows": pages 2-4
"To all people to whom these presents shall come, greeting: know ye that we Abraham a Mohawk chief, Sennghois, a Oneida chief, Saquarifera a Tuscarora chief, Chenaugheata chief of the Onandaga council, Tagaaia a Cayuga chief, and Gustarax a Seneca chief, chiefs and sachems of the Six United Nations, and being and effectually representing all the tribes of the said Six United Natons, send greeting", pages 4-5, is dated January 7, 1769
